March Monthly Favorites: Food, Fashion & Fun

Hey Loves,

in this weeks Wednesday post I wanna share my March favorites with you. March has been a quite relaxed and chilled month for me after finishing my semester thesis and exams in February I took some time to relax, read and just enjoy life again.

So let’s talk food first (important things first) – my favorite Snack of the Month has to be Mango & Matcha Latte which I basically have every afternoon. Instead of drinking a cup of coffee when the afternoon fatigue kicks in I recently switched to a Matcha Latte with oat milk and a little bit of honey as a sweetener. Whenever I need something really sweet though I’ve been obsessed with Mangos. I always have stock of ripe ones in my kitchen πŸ˜‰

My Read of the Month is the Audiobook of Better than Before by Gretchen Rubin. For all you procrastinators out there – this might be incredibly helpful. This month I wanted to get into the habit of getting up earlier and this book is very supportive when it comes to understanding our habits and why you might fail when trying to implement one.

The Video of the Month for me was How to make your dreams/goals Reality by Mimi Ikonn. I love Mimi and her videos – she’s such an inspiration and everyone can profit from her videos. She’s just such a lovely person and she and her husband are smart, funny and encouraging – I highly recommend watching her videos! Some of my favorite books were recommended by them in videos and they really can make a change. This particular one, she published last year but I watched it again this month and it reminded me of how important it is to be after something you really want.

My Favorite Quote of the Month I found on Pinterest – btw if you don’t follow us on there just click here for tons of inspiration πŸ™‚ Another new feature: I included a favorite quote of the month section in our sidebar for some little inspiration every day – we hope you like it!

Of course I’m including a favorite Blog Post of the Month and since I had some time to read a few blogs this month this was a reeeeaally hard one because I’ve read so many good ones. In the end I decided for Ich brauche keine String Tangas (I don’t need a thong) by dariadaria. I know this one is in German but you can use Google translate. The powerful post is about empowering women to take a step back from comparing themselves to Bikini advertisements and models on Instagram. Great post and very well written.

My favorite TV show this month was Grace and Frankie which is available on Netflix. Basically the story begins when the two married women find out that their husbands are secretly lovers for the past 40 years and want to get married. It’s hilarious! From there on they have to move in together and sort their lifes. It’s a series that is great and easy to watch after a long day or just if you want to have a good laugh.

By far my favorite Fashion Item this month was my white oversized knitted sweater from H&M which I was wearing in my last outfit post. Since it still was quite cold this month in Germany this was perfect to keep me warm and it just feels so soft. Huge Love! πŸ™‚

Looking forward to in April: In April I will finally travel again! I’m soooo excited πŸ™‚ I’m going to Thailand with a very dear friend and I can’t wait to pack my bags and leave for the airport! We will be there for 3 weeks and will go backpacking. I actually have been to Thailand last year, though we only stayed in the Bangkok area. However, I fell in love with the country and I can’t wait to go back! πŸ™‚ I’ve missed traveling so much throughout the winter which was packed with studying.

Hope you had a great month! What was your favorite this month?
I would love to know! πŸ™‚

Lots of love,

Melanie

The 3 Newest Bargains in my Closet

Hey loves,

finally I found some time in my full schedule between working and school and went a little shopping. Time flies and it’s only two more months before I’m graduating. My master thesis and internship are keeping me occupied and I barely have time for myself. In case you guys have any tips for time management, energizing drinks or how to stay fit, I would very much appreciate it πŸ™‚

On my way home from university I found a Nordstrom Rack and decided to check it out. Within 10 minutes I already found too many things I wanted to buy. But since I’m going spontaneously to Canada this week to visit family I could not afford buying all of it. Since the weather is chilly here on the East Coast right now (even though we get some sun from time to time), I wanted to have some boots that are robust and wearable in rain, snow and sunshine. The sunglasses were also a bargain at Nordstrom Rack. Afterwards, I went to H&M to get a really cozy scarf which I will wear in one of the next outfit blog posts.
Boots KATE SPADE
Sunglasses DIANE VON FURSTENBERG
Scarf H&M

I actually didn’t plan on buying boots but they caught my eye immediately. I always wanted to have boots I can wear in the rain and still look stylish and I found them finally. Additionally, I bought a waterproof shoe spray to make sure that nothing will happen to them. Nordstrom Rack offered them for only $89 Dollars and therefore made me really happy with this bargain.

To choose the right and perfect sunglasses is always a challenge. Do they fit my face? Are they too

big? Are they too small? These are all questions I am asking myself before buying glasses (whether normal glasses or sunglasses). This is the first item I bought from Diane v Furstenberg and I have to say I really love them. The color – a mixture between brown and red – is super interesting and makes them sparkle in the sun.

The checkered scarf is one of my favorite new pieces in my closet. I was looking for a thick, cozy scarf in a white/black-ish color for a very long time. Finally, I have found it at H&M for only $10 when they had a sale, which also made me very happy. I can’t wait to wear it with my black leather jacket. The combination of the smooth leather jacket and the cozy scarf looks amazing.

I really hope you enjoyed this post. Comment below and let us know what your last bargains were and how you wear them, we would be happy to talk to you about that.

Love,
Juliana

A monochrome Layering Look

Hey Loves,
hope you have lovely Sunday – the weather couldn’t be nicer in the south of Germany right now so I’m writing this blog post on my terrace right now and it’s pure bliss πŸ™‚
The pictures however were taken last weekend when I visited my friends in Frankfurt – and it was so freakin cold πŸ˜€ the wind was sooo freezing so I’m happy now sitting in the sun and editing the pictures from last weekend. The weekend was so lovely and meeting my friends again was the most amazing thing. We spend a lot of time walking around Frankfurt and enjoying amazing food especially my favorite – African food! πŸ™‚ When we took those pictures on Sunday I was a bit hung over from last night but I hope you can’t see it too well πŸ˜‰ We shooted in front of the new European Centra Bank in Frankfurt which is an amazing location and it was a chilly but nice place
I’m totally obsessed with the layering look at the moment so for this look I unpacked my favorite big sweater and wore a white shirt dress underneath. I paired it with some grey slacks and my black heels that are the one pair I can wear comfortably. The bag is the best bargain in this Outfit – I got it from C&A for only 19! It’s sort of a dupe for the Celine trio bag but has a great quality and isn’t made out of real leather which is great if your searching for a vegan alternative.
What do you think about this look?
Lots of Love,

Melanie

7 Things that will make traveling a lot easier

Hey Loves,

it’s been a while since the last things… post but since my next trip is coming up soon I decided to share some of my tips that will make traveling a lot easier. Though my trip to Thailand is still 3 weeks away I can’t wait to already pack my bags. I love packing and the excitement that comes with it. However it’s not so enjoyable for many others.

Either way I hope you’ll like the following tips – tested and loved by me πŸ™‚

1. Spacious and Organized Wash Bag

There is nothing more annoying on a vacation than an unorganized toiletry bag. I recently discovered one that just hold everything perfectly – make up, washing things, toothbrush, showering stuff and so much more. If you have tried several wash bags over the years and never were quite pleased with it you will benefit from this the most! I linked two cheap versions below. Personally I prefer the right one but there are so many colorful options as well πŸ™‚

2. Microfiber Towel

Microfiber Towels are a lifesaver when it comes to packing. They are lightweight, don’t take up much room and are fast drying as well. Below I linked a set of two so you have one for the beach and one for showering – or you use one for hair and one for the body.
Extra Tip: Even when I’m not traveling I use the towel for drying my hair because it’s soft surface prevents damage to your hair that cotton towels usually cause!

3. Packing Cubes

Packing Cubes are great if you are going on a backpacking trip or just want some more organization in your suitcase. I will write a separate packing tips post soon, so stay tuned πŸ™‚

4. Travel Brushes

These travel brushes by Real Techniques are also amazing for organizing your toiletry bag. They are so small and have great quality at a affordable price!

5. Silikon Travel Tubes

Did you know that travel sizes or make up samples are getting bad more quickly than the full size product? They are designed to be used within a few weeks or months and therefore don’t are as keepable as regular products. Therefore I prefer to use reusable tubes so that I can have my favorite products on the go and enjoy my favorite products during my vacation. Also it prevents me from going shopping to buy extra travel sizes or keep a stack of samples for traveling which – let’s be honest – nobody enjoys using those tiny rip open packages which always get messy.

6. Foldable Backpack

This one comes in handy if you’re going on a more adventurous trip like I do. While I like to board a plane with only a middle-sized handbag which keeps just my necessities and isn’t heavy to carry around I also like to go on hikes while I’m on my trip. This backpack folds up to small sized square and is used more often than you would think. It’s also super cheap and therefore a very worthwile purchase!

7. Portable Great Quality Camera

As much as I loooove love love my Canon DSLR – it’s just not easy to take on trips or let alone fit it into a handbag. I love photography and especially on vacation I want to take amazing pictures. While most of the point and shot cameras have a nice quality as well – mostly they aren’t any great differences to the iPhone camera. So for my next trip I’m thinking about investing in an Olympus Pen model which combines good quality and a handy design. Plus it also takes pics in RAW-format which is so important when it comes to editing them afterwards. What do you think – do you have any experience with a camera like the Olympus Pen yet? I’d love to know!

My favorite model is the Olympus Pen E-PL 6 which is 377€ on amazon and already comes with the Pancake lens

I’d love to know where you’re next trip is going to take take you and if you found those tips helpful!

Lots of Love

Melanie

Winter Walk Magic

Hey Loves,
the winter has come quite surprisingly again to Germany and it got covered in a lovey fluffy white layer. So my friend and I decided to go for a long winter walk along a lake nearby. The drive there was quite adventurous because we were meeting up in the morning and the streets were still covered in ice and snow but we both made it safely πŸ™‚
Though you might not feel like it when it’s that cold outside – taking the time for a long walk is definitely rewarding. There’s no feeling like coming home to a hot drink and sit on the couch and chat πŸ™‚ Find out what my favorite drink is at the end of the post!
The outfit – again – is all monochrome πŸ˜€ But I love this color combination and in the winter time it’s just perfect for layering up. The most important part of the outfit for a walk are good boots that keep you warm and don’t get wet. So what is you favorite thing to do on a winter day?
Hope you’re enjoying the last few days of winter!
Lots of love,
Melanie
