5 Graduation Dresses – How to choose the perfect dress

Graduation month is coming closer and closer and as a girl, I’m asking myself what I should wear for that special day. I have been thinking about graduation dresses for the past few months and having a hard time deciding.

To be honest, I can’t wait until May 14 comes, my master thesis is keeping me busy and I’m working towards my defense. Unfortunately, there is one more paper I have to write before I can relax and look forward to Graduation Day. My parents will come on this special day from Germany, which will be a new experience since German universities mostly do not have the American graduation ceremonies.

The school differences can be immense – nobody celebrated me (except my parents who have to ;-)) when I finished my Bachelor’s degree and I didn’t wear a gown and cap. Why is that so? They celebrate High School graduation but when you manage it to get through college with decent grades and still are alive from all the parties, nobody shakes your hand and celebrates you in a 2-hour event. There seems to be a logic behind it which I don’t really understand.
Now, for the first time after high school, I can celebrate a degree with my loved ones and a million other people. When so many people are present, I would like to look pretty, so the choice of the graduation dress is essential. Many people wear white to their graduation – don’t ask me why, I wasn’t raised in America ;-). However, a day like this screams for something more extravagant.

You have to feel comfortable in your dress since you will wear it the entire day. So choose a material, color, and length you feel good with. It can also be a maxi or midi dress. I just chose a short dress because I know it will be too hot for me in a longer dress, but the length is totally up to you.

My 5 favorite graduation dresses

I have posted 5 dresses here I picked from different online shop just to show you some examples for your personal Graduation Day. As you can see I chose some rosé, lavender, or blue colors for the dresses. I have a weakness for these colors, they look very romantic which makes you look very elegant at the same time. I wish I could have all the dresses, they are just so pretty.

The graduation dress I will wear is among these dresses. Can you guess which one it is??? (Tip: unfortunately, it is now a little (okay, not only a little, it is much more expensive than it was a few weeks ago when I bought it.) Apparently they offered the dress to a special sales price at that time.
Comment below and on our Instagram account. I’m very excited to hear your opinions about the 5 dresses below.

5 Tips How to Prepare Best for the Weather in Canada

The weather in Canada can vary a lot but it is so beautiful and I am always happy to visit the marvelous country.

Last week I decided spontaneously to drive up to Canada to visit some family over there. We drove to Ottawa which is in Ontario and it took us about 7 hours to get there by car. After driving across the country last year, 6 hours sounded like an easy job. As we finally arrived the temperature dropped, in comparison to the comfortable weather in Connecticut. The weather in Canada can be very moody and weird. One day it was snowing and the next day, the sun appeared and I could walk around outside without a jacket – which was really giving me a mood flash! But I am a positive person and enjoyed the lovely last couple days. Ottawa itself is such a beautiful city – even though I only saw it a couple times. The city has stunning parliament buildings and architecture. Furthermore, it offers great shopping possibilities with a mall right in the city center. There are also some really cute restaurants and bars in downtown Ottawa to check out. Since the weather was a little strange the days I visited, I have put together a list of 5 tips on how to prepare best for the weather in Canada.

1. Don’t forget your Sunglasses!

I’ve learned from my mistakes… It was stormy outside so I said to myself: “Well, I definitely won’t need my sunglasses today”. That was a bad decision. Canada can surprise you with sunshine later that day. As you probably know, even snow is so bright that you need sunglasses to be able to see something.

2. Always bring a Jacket with you

Even when it is warm outside, be always prepared to have a jacket with you – a rain jacket would be very helpful, for instance. I am a person who freezes a lot so I brought my winter coat, especially after looking at the weather forecast. Be always prepared for rain, snow, or wind!

3. A Scarf is a Must-Have

Personally, I am a scarf-addict. I love scarves, I even buy them in summer. I know that sounds ridiculous but… well… we all have our quirks, right?! I think a scarf can highlight an outfit and also keeps you cozy.

4. Bring Waterproof and Warm Boots

When it snows or rains the worst thing to happen can be to get wet feet. It can make you feel uncomfortable or even worse, it can give you a cold. This is why it is always important to bring warm shoes like UGGs, EMUs or rain boots. Since it is already spring time I took some rain boots from Kate Spade I already talked about in the blog post “3 Newest Bargains in my Closet“. I like these boots very much because they are waterproof, warm and are red inside which is always an eye-catcher.

5. Keep your Positive Attitude

Yes, the weather can be a little depressing from time to time. That’s why you should always keep your optimistic and positive attitude and just enjoy your vacation. Relax, don’t think about work or school and explore the country!

I hope you liked the tips for a trip to Canada and have a great time whenever you visit this beautiful country. Enjoy your Sunday and I can’t wait to hear your opinions about this post and outfit.

A monochrome Layering Look

Hey Loves,
hope you have lovely Sunday – the weather couldn’t be nicer in the south of Germany right now so I’m writing this blog post on my terrace right now and it’s pure bliss 🙂
The pictures however were taken last weekend when I visited my friends in Frankfurt – and it was so freakin cold 😀 the wind was sooo freezing so I’m happy now sitting in the sun and editing the pictures from last weekend. The weekend was so lovely and meeting my friends again was the most amazing thing. We spend a lot of time walking around Frankfurt and enjoying amazing food especially my favorite – African food! 🙂 When we took those pictures on Sunday I was a bit hung over from last night but I hope you can’t see it too well 😉 We shooted in front of the new European Centra Bank in Frankfurt which is an amazing location and it was a chilly but nice place
I’m totally obsessed with the layering look at the moment so for this look I unpacked my favorite big sweater and wore a white shirt dress underneath. I paired it with some grey slacks and my black heels that are the one pair I can wear comfortably. The bag is the best bargain in this Outfit – I got it from C&A for only 19! It’s sort of a dupe for the Celine trio bag but has a great quality and isn’t made out of real leather which is great if your searching for a vegan alternative.
What do you think about this look?
Lots of Love,

Winter Walk Magic

Hey Loves,
the winter has come quite surprisingly again to Germany and it got covered in a lovey fluffy white layer. So my friend and I decided to go for a long winter walk along a lake nearby. The drive there was quite adventurous because we were meeting up in the morning and the streets were still covered in ice and snow but we both made it safely 🙂
Though you might not feel like it when it’s that cold outside – taking the time for a long walk is definitely rewarding. There’s no feeling like coming home to a hot drink and sit on the couch and chat 🙂 Find out what my favorite drink is at the end of the post!
The outfit – again – is all monochrome 😀 But I love this color combination and in the winter time it’s just perfect for layering up. The most important part of the outfit for a walk are good boots that keep you warm and don’t get wet. So what is you favorite thing to do on a winter day?
Hope you’re enjoying the last few days of winter!
Lots of love,

Business Casual & a Talk about Personal Style

Business Casual

Glasses: Mango
Turtleneck sweater: Hallhuber
Bag: Hallhuber:
White shirt: vintage
Pants: Hallhuber
Heels: Buffalo
Watch: Daniel Wellington

When you look through my former outfit posts like this one here or this one you may have figured out by now that my favorite color scheme is … monochrome. I just love the clean and minimalistic look of it and the fact that it’s suitable for every situation. And monochrome outfits always give me the chance to include my favorite color white (ok, I know it’s technically not a color but for me it definitely is ?).

So for this post I put together this Business Casual outfit in my favorite colors. While you could easily wear this outfit to work I also love to wear it in my free time – I would just ditch the heels and go for a pair of Vans or Converse instead. A great brand for casual business outfits is Hallhuber, which is available at this Online Shop I recently discovered. The bag is definitely my favorite aspect about the outfit. Since it’s so classy and easy combinable it’s a versatile piece that will work with a lot of pieces from my wardrobe. The turtle neck sweater is very cozy and elegant at the same time. What do you think about this look?

I’ve loved monochrome and simple outfits for years now but always followed different trends along the way, simply because every one was. While it’s valued to have your own personal style one the one hand, every time we would go shopping my friends were like: “It looks good on you but you can’t buy another white shirt!” or “Don’t you already have something similar already?” So on the the other hand it doesn’t seem to be appreciated if you stick to identical themes in your wardrobe. But over the years I learned to overhear those doubts and buy the things I want to or at least I try to ;). At the end of the day I have to feel comfortable and self-confident in my own skin and outfit.

Do you have a favorite color that you always include in your outfits?
