Travel: Charming San Francisco and Fabulous Las Vegas

San Francisco Harbour

Hey Loves,

while being on the West Coast I also had the luck to see San Francisco and from the moment I arrived there, I loved this city. I could feel the bohemian flair every second and this makes the city very special. When you are in San Francisco for the first time, like I was
, check out all the sightseeing attractions like Alcatraz, go to Ghiradelli, the chocolate company and go on a ride with the Cable Cars where from some points on the hills you can see the ocean and the artist town Sausalito which is just across San Francisco. I was told that it is also totally worth to see Sausalito and I will certainly do it the next time when I’m in San Francisco. I recommend checking out  Fisherman’s Wharf on Pier 35 last so you can enjoy some fresh crab dinner after a busy sightseeing day. A special moment for me was the ride across the Golden Gate Bridge at night and then we drove to a lookout where you could take great pictures from the bridge. I was totally overwhelmed by this city because it is so beautiful and incredibly charming.

Las Vegas

After packing our suitcase we headed two days later to Las Vegas where we spent one night. I had to think about the movie “Hangover” very much before we arrived in Vegas. You can already see the city lights miles away, the Strip packed with people and the Casino’s began to run hot on this Friday night. We stayed at the Paris which we booked one day before. You get the best prices when you book spontaneously and if you are lucky you get an upgrade like we did 🙂 Having a shower after the long ride felt amazing and I grabbed my blue long Michael Kors dress out of my suitcase to wear it for this very special night. I am very happy that I am older than 21 because I realized it is not much fun to stay in Las Vegas when you are underaged. Security guards are very strict and don’t show any mercy in case you are not 21 yet. After we were walking along the Strip we decided to go to a club. The club at the Paris hotel had a rooftop where you could party, which was an awesome experience to have an overview of a part of the Strip while enjoying a cocktail. The next morning we checked out, packed our car and had a delicious lunch on the Strip just across from the Bellagio at a restaurant called Mon Ami Gabi which has a perfect view of the Bellagio fountain show. To me a tradition is to get from all the cities I’m visiting a Hard Rock Café T-Shirt. So I was dragging myself through the heat to the Hard Rock to finally get my shirt. After we made the 14 hours we only had in Vegas count, we left the fabulous city to continue our road trip.

Being on the Coast – First Days in California

Beautiful Overview of the Central California Coastline
Hey Loves,

Finally I get to write the first travel post about the initial days in California. I was so busy and so tired in the evening I couldn’t even open my laptop anymore, even if I could there was no wi-fi. But I really want to share with you all the cool things I experienced the last days, so you will also see some pictures from different places.

When we arrived we had a layover in Los Angeles where I tried the In-N-Out for the first time. It was a little adventure to get to this place since the taxis had a minimum charge of nineteen dollars. So we took a shuttle bus to a hotel and from there walked to a bus stop to jump on a city bus which took us to the In-N-Out. The bus only cost one dollar and it just took us 5 minutes to get there. If you like fast food and burgers this is the place to go since it only exists on the West Coast. So don’t be confused when somebody asks you if you want to have your fries animal style. The first time I heard this expression I was a little overwhelmed and looked at the person with this stupid “what the hell is animal style”-look. It means just that you get some melted cheese and a special sauce on your fries. Go there and check it out, it is delicious and better than McDonald’s 🙂

On the day after we went to the beach in Cayoucos which is a small town on the coast. Most of the time it is windy there, but we had luck and had a wonderful sunny day which became cloudy in the afternoon. In this little town you can also find the Brown Butter Cookie Company who make delicious cookies, just a little tip from me 😉 Since it can be very windy day, I would recommend a light jacket or blouse to wear on top of a dress. There is also an outfit post coming about this day on the coast, just to let you know.
The Pacific Ocean air makes it colder, especially when the clouds came, I was very happy to wear some shorts underneath my dress. When you are getting exhausted from a fun day on the beach, some fish can be delicious. We had awesome Fish & Chips at a restaurant called “Dockside”, but they also have swordfish and many other fish you don’t like fried fish. I hadn’t eaten fish & chips for a long time – I think the last time was in England about 10 years ago – and was totally stoked right away again. I just forgot how fresh it can taste when you eat at a fish restaurant on the coast.

An outfit post of this trip is also coming soon for you, so stay tuned!

Love,
Juli
